iPhone 4G vs HTC Evo

The new upcoming phones from Apple and HTC, respectively, are flagships of their respective brands.

There are a number of differences between the two handsets. The specs indicate that the iPhone 4G displays at 960x 640 HD screen, meanwhile the EVO's screen displays 480x800 pixels. There's a huge difference in weight, the EVO stands at 170g and the iPhone 4G weights in at 140g.

The EVO 4G has next-gen data connectivity, and not just 4G in name. The EVO has a WiMAX which is a steroid version of Wi-Fi, where download speeds can run up to 10Mbps. The iPhone 4G retains its HSDPA data connectivity.

The internal memory for the EVO relies on microSD Card which goes up to 32GB and a 1GB internal memory. The iPhone 4G has a much larger 60 to 80GB internal memory. The EVO 4G has an 8.3 megapixel camera, and the iPhone sports a 5.0 megapixel camera.

The iPhone 4G is loaded with the iPhone OS 4.0, meanwhile the EVO 4G is loaded with Android 2.1.

Both devices are pending arrival and although none of the specs are confirmed, it boils down to whether you need ultra-fast downloads or Apple’s tried-and-true UI. In either case, we look forward to the both of them blowing our minds away.

Sprint HTC EVO 4G

WiMAX 4G + 3G + Wi-Fi, touchscreen candybar, 8.3 megapixel camera, 1GB internal Memory, 32GB microSD card

Sprint officially announced the HTC EVO 4G, the dual-branded phone will be released summer and it rocks a 480 x 800 4.3-inch TFT LCD, with a Snapdragon QSD8650 1GHz processor, and 1GB of built-in memory and 512MB of RAM. The camera is an 8.3 megapixel with flash, that's capable of 720p video, there’s also a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera. The device itself is powered by Google Android 2.1.

If you wondering about 4G, Sprint will be the carrier supporting WiMAX, and is already live in 27 cities, and has more plans to extend throughout North America. The device will be to handle some serious download speeds, as soon as Sprint announces their WiMAX plan that is.

The EVO 4G has HDMI out, Wi-Fi, and an 8GB microSD card. A-GPS with Sprint Navigation, seven home screens, and a microSD card slot that supports up to 32GB. Other physical controls include a 3.5mm headset hack, a micro-USB port, a power control, and a volume rocker. The EVO also can function as a hot spot for up to eight devices.

The phone is slated to go on sale June 4th 2010.


iPhone 4G

3.5G HSDPA + Wi-Fi, touchscreen candybar, 5.0 megapixel camera, 60/80GB internal Memory

The new hardware includes, a front-facing video chat camera, Improved regular back-camera (the lens is quite noticeably larger than the iPhone 3GS), camera flash, Micro-SIM instead of standard SIM (like the iPad), and an Improved display.

The phone itself saw quite a few changes- a flat back, an aluminium border around the phone, it is also smaller than the 3GS, has a 16% larger battery and smaller components.

No confirmation about the 960x640 display as of now, but Gizmodo is saying "it certainly looks like it". The iPhone 4G supposedly a secondary microphone for noise cancellation, split buttons for volume, Power, mute, and volume buttons are all metallic.

Note that these are not the final, confirmed specs. The phone is expected to be announced in June at Apple’s WWDC.
