Remember last month, when Google launch a free turn-by-turn GPS navigation system for Android 2.0? Good news. Google Maps Navigation is now available on Android 1.6 Donut, the operating system found on most updated Android phones, such as the T-Mobile G1 and myTouch 3G.
This release includes the Layers feature, which lets you overlay geographical information on the map. View My Maps, transit lines, Wikipedia articles and more.
If you have a device running Android 1.6, you can download an updated version of Google Maps from Android Market. Google Maps Navigation is still beta and is currently available in the US. Some features of Android 2.0 are not available on Android 1.6, like the ability to use the "navigate to" voice command. Still better than nothing, right?
