Consumers can now select their virtual phone numbers from an array of more than 100 area codes in the U.S. and Canada. This service allows users with ‘vanity search’ for noteworthy digits and word spellings. The service enables SMS and fax capabilities as well. It forwards users’ current cell phone numbers to VoxOx, without sharing the new phone number as well.
“Those who own a small business, have family living in another state, or just would like to have a fun, memorable phone number, can benefit from these new options. For example, a small business owner can now add phone numbers in multiple local areas that the business serves. Or, a U.S. resident with family in another state (or Canada) can now add phone numbers in those locations in order to enable family members to dial locally,” commented Erik Bratt, VP of marketing at TelCentris.
Bryan Hertz, CEO of TelCentris, stated, “We think our users will be excited by the number of options we provide for getting a free or low-cost phone number. This is another point of differentiation from our competitors, none of which offer the flexibility that we provide.”
The company additionally reveals to have collaborated with iNum initiative and provides free global numbers. This service eases calling friends, family and colleagues overseas after dialing VoxOx users from landlines, mobile phones or IP networks, globally at local rates or for free. After the activation, friends can call through any handset from the local access numbers in 45 countries as a two-stage call.
The VoxOx virtual numbers retail at $1.95 per month or $19.95 per year from the company’s official website.
Sonim introduces the new XP3 Sentinel ultra rugged
The XP3 Sentinel packs a 176×220 display, a 2 Megapixel camera with flash, integrated GPS receiver with SiRF InstantFix, FM Radio , LED torch light, Bluetooth Man Down sensor and a microSD card slot. The phone includes the Sonim Lone Worker application as well.

According to the Official Google Mobile Blog,Google Maps for mobile has just got biking directions, navigation shortcut, sharing, and more. With Google Maps 4.2 for Android users can get biking directions on the go, start navigation from their home screen, and share places with friends.
This newly revealed feature now allows users to get biking directions, lanes, and trials on their mobile device. If users want to take a more scenic route, they can even take note of the Bicycling layer on the map, showing the difference between dedicated bike-only trails, roads with bike lanes or even roads that are good for biking but lack a dedicated lane. Users can always turn on this layer from the Layers menu to pick their own route.
In addition, the Google Navigation shortcut has also made its way. With this new shortcut, users can pick a destination and be on their way with as little as two taps of their finger. Google’s new Sharing feature now lets users share places with their friends. From any search results page, users can choose to ‘Share this place’ to send that place’s information such as its address and phone number, to whomever they like.

If you're an AT&T user and you're holding out for one of those new Palm phones, then your wait is just about over. AT&T and Palm have announced that the Palm Pre Plus is coming to stores by the end of the week.
The AT&T site has touting the coming of the Palm Pre Plus and the Pixi Plus but now they've committed to a specific date, for the Pre Plus at least - it's coming on May 16th.
The Palm Pre Plus is slated for 149.99 US dollars on a contract and after a mail-in rebate. As a limited time offer, customers will get a Palm Touchstone charging dock for free (a Touchstone kit runs about 40 dollars).
The promo page mentions access to AT&T's Wi-Fi hotspots, but the Facebook post, which is the source behind this info, doesn't elaborate on that.
But the beefed up version of the Palm Pre should be in AT&T retail stores and online this Sunday. As for the Palm Pixi Plus there's no word yet on when it's coming. We'll hardly miss it though!

Sprint is going to expand its Android lineup with Google's Nexus One "superphone:" availability and pricing to be announced "soon."
Mobile operator Sprint has announced that it will be offering the Google Nexus One will be coming to Sprint’s 3G Mobile Broadband Network…although the exact date and pricing options have not yet been revealed. Google launched the Nexus One in January with a $529 unlocked version that operated on T-Mobile’s GSM network, or a $179 subsidized version bound to T-Mobile; just yesterday, Google announced an unlocked version that operates on AT&T’s 3G network (as well as Rogers in Canada). The Sprint announcements means that versions of the Android-powered Nexus One “superphone” will be available for three of the four major U.S. wireless carriers—only Verizon Wireless is currently out of the Nexus One loop.
“Nexus One is a powerful device that belongs on a powerful network,” said Sprint VP of product development Fared
Although Sprint has not announced availability dates or pricing plans for the Nexus One, the company says it wants to “keep pricing simple.” One thing Sprint has been clear about: the Sprint version of the Nexus one will not be available in Sprint stores. Instead, users will go to Google’s Web-based storefront to purchase the phone.
We get up close and personal with the Palm Pre Plus smartphone for Verizon.
Palm has added some needed upgrades to its Pre smartphone for its migration to Verizon from Sprint. The Pre Plus features more memory, double the storage, better build quality than the original Pre and comes in at a reasonable $150 with a service plan through Verizon.
ShopSavvy QR code support became available for Android phones, including the Nexus One, Hero and Droid, last week and will soon be available on the iPhone.
You might recall Apple having a hard time keeping its lock screen locked at one point, and it looks like we've got a common theme brewing here now that Android's suffering from the same drama. Turns out that Android 2.0.1 -- the build currently deployed on the Droid -- suffers from a flaw whereby you can back out to a locked phone's home screen simply by pressing the Back button after accepting an incoming call. Of course, you'd either have to know a phone's number or wait for a call to actually take advantage of this, but we'd argue that it's a pretty low barrier of entry. The bright side of the story, we suppose, is that the phone goes back to being locked as soon as the call ends, but then again it doesn't take much time to peep your juicy emails. Google's aware of the issue, so we're thinking this'll make it into the Droid's next software update; we don't have a launch window for that just yet, so in the meantime... you know, just make sure no one ever calls you and you should be good to go.
